Mrs Betty Hamrick’s Chocolate

Custard Pie (Makes 2 pies)

Ingredients

• 2 (9-inch) regular pie shells, baked• 2

cups sugar• ¼ cup cocoa powder• ½

cup all-purpose flour• 2 large egg

yolks• 4 cups milk• ½ stick (¼ cup)

butterInstructions 1. In the top of a

double boiler, whisk together the

sugar, cocoa powder, flour, egg yolks,

and milk until smooth.2. Cook over

simmering water, stirring almost

constantly, until the mixture thickens

into a custard.3. Remove from heat

and stir in the butter until melted and

glossy.4. Pour the hot custard evenly

into the baked pie shells.

5. Let cool to room temperature, then

chill in the refrigerator until I spent

the day making Genile his MawMaw
