Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (divided)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
Method:
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, half of the chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 oval patties.
- Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, cook the remaining onion and mushrooms until softened. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Mix the cornstarch with the water, then stir it into the broth until the gravy thickens.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spoon the gravy over them, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until fully cooked. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
