Ingredients:
2 lbs round steak, cut into serving-size
pieces½ cup all-purpose flour1 tsp
salt½ tsp black pepper2 tbsp vegetable
oil1 medium onion, sliced1 green bell
pepper, sliced2 cloves garlic, minced1
can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes1 can (8
oz) tomato sauce1 tsp Worcestershire
sauce1 tsp Italian seasoning½ cup
beef brothMethod:Preheat the oven to
325°F (165°C). Season the steak with
salt and pepper, then lightly coat each
piece with flour.Heat the oil in a large
oven-safe skillet over medium-high
heat. Brown the steaks for 2–3
minutes per side, then transfer them
to a plate.In the same skillet, sauté the
onion, bell pepper, and garlic for 3–4
minutes. Stir in the diced tomatoes,
tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce,
Italian seasoning, and beef
broth.Return the steaks to the skillet
and spoon some of the tomato
mixture over them. Cover tightly and
bake for 1½–2 hours, until the steak is
tender and the gravy is rich and
flavorful.Serve hot over mashed
potatoes, rice, or egg noodles,
spooning plenty of the tomato gravy
over the top.
