Ingredients
- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Stir in the melted butter until the mixture becomes crumbly. Fold in nuts if using.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Tip: Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the classic combination.
