Ingredients
Apple Filling
- 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Crisp Topping
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
- ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in the baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture becomes crumbly. Stir in the pecans if using.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.
